Developing the WiFi Captive Portal using web technologies
I previously worked as a Software Engineer on the WiFi Captive Portal team at Charter Communications. The WiFi Captive Portal is a captive network assistant, or simply a WiFi popup or overlay. This is a limited browser function that opens on most mobile devices when they detect that they are in a captive portal environment.
The WiFi Captive Portal was built using a variety of web technologies: React, Node.js, TypeScript, and TypeORM to name a few. My work on the project included implementing React components on the front-end, refactoring server-side code, and leading the effort to add analytics to the front-end of the application.
